The LaRue Insurance Agency was formed in 1972 in the home of Donald R. And Frances M. Bush LaRue at Rensselaer, Missouri. The first company written with was Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance. Ten years later Donald began writing property and casualty insurance for Ralls County Mutual Insurance, Cameron Mutual, and Planters Mutual Hail. While the growth of the agency was increasing, Donald continued teaching Vocational Agriculture at the Monroe City R-1 public schools. He retired in 1991 after over 30 years of teaching in Missouri with 27 years being in the Monroe City school system. Donald continued writing insurance from his home office in Rensselaer until 1990 when the LaRue Insurance Agency established its office at 216 North Main Street in Monroe City, Missouri. On June 1, 1994 the business was incorporated with Donald R. LaRue serving as the company’s president, and Frances holding the position of secretary. In 1994 Carrie LaRue Cooper joined the agency as broker / agent and became manager of the company. Also in 1994, Greg and Carrie Cooper became part owners of the LaRue Insurance Agency, Inc. In 1994, LaRue Insurance became an Independent Agency. Carrie holds licenses in both Missouri and Illinois. In 1999 Bethany Wagner Garner, formerly of Palmyra, Missouri, became an agent for LaRue Insurance specializing in health, as well as writing property, casualty, and life. As the agency has grown, Patti Dreckshage Kendrick, formerly of Shelbyville, Missouri, joined LaRue Insurance as customer service representative in 2003.
